Update: Man airlifted to hospital after falling overboard, Queens County, N.S.

Queens District RCMP wish to advise that the man who fell overboard in the water near Port Mouton has died.

Yesterday morning at 8:11 a.m., RCMP and the Joint Rescue Coordination Center responded to a call that a man was in the water off the shores of Port Mouton.

A 42-year-old male had fallen overboard from a fishing boat. The crew of the boat managed to get the man out of the water and transported him to a wharf in Central Port Mouton. The man in critical condition was airlifted by a Canadian Forces Cormorant Rescue Helicopter to Shearwater and then by ground to hospital in Halifax by Emergency Health Services.

Stephen Darin Hanson, 42, of Queens County died last evening in hospital as a result of this incident. The matter remains under investigation and RCMP do not suspect foul play.
