Missing hikers located in Spider Lake area last evening, Halifax, N.S.

Halifax District RCMP located two lost hikers last evening in Spider Lake area.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. last evening, Halifax District RCMP received a 911 call from two hikers indicating they were lost on the trails somewhere in Spider Lake.

Preliminary investigation determined that the 38-year-old man from Cole Harbour and a 37-year-old woman from Halifax had gone for a short hike with their dog at approximately 3 p.m.. Halifax District RCMP attended the location and found the hikers’ vehicle parked at the end of Spider Lake Rd. The Halifax GSAR was activated and a Halifax Regional Police K-9 unit was called to the scene to help locate the hikers.

At 10:30 p.m., an RCMP officer and the police dog located the missing couple approximately 2.5 kms away from their vehicle. The hikers exited the woods approximately 45 minutes later and were assessed by Emergency Health Services. Aside from being cold, they were in good health.
