Monday shoe porn: Sarah’s Shoe Masoleum

L-A: Monday is here and you’re either on vacation (lucky!) and reading this over your morning coffee at 10am or you’re like me and you dragged yourself to work. And in my case, I’m spending the day trying to mentallly prepare myself to get my ass kicked in the rain during my after work outdoor work out . So for those of us not on vacation, let’s cheer ourselves up by being voyeurs and looking inside Sarah’s shoe closet.  According to Sarah, she had planned to send us her pictures awhile ago, but the baby woke up and she left her camera in the shoe closet for three weeks. Oops. We’re glad she found her camera, because her shoe closet fills me with envy – I wish mine looked so organized.

The Shoe Closet - Otherwise known as the mausoleum. Most of my shoes now sit collecting dust while I wear flip flops and push a baby carriage through Clayton Park. A moment of silence please. Jessica Bennet - I loved these shoes so much that when I fell down the office stairs in them and broke the heel (and a toe) I cried because of the heel (not the toe). I believe this sums up everything everyone in my office knows about my personality. I have replaced the heel three times now, but still wear them. (John David) Max Azria - One day my mother-in-law had a recycling bag full of shoes to give to Big Brothers and Big Sisters and she said to me, "take a look and see if you want any before I give them away." I found four pairs of unworn awesome shoes in my size (the rest weren't so great). What has your mother-in-law done for you lately? Hmm? (Winners) Office UK - I think the baby poked his finger into the camera lens, hence the soft focus. These tomato red beauties are from Office in London. Michael Kors - Basically unworn red patent Michael Kors. I could wear them, but I could not walk for the next week. I like walking. (John David) Charles by Charles David - These are awesome and very high. Unlike some other shoes I could name, I can wear these all day. Great with a tulip skirt. (John David) Guess - Bought these at Winners in PEI, where the good shoes sit until they go on sale, while last years Sketchers are snapped up like hot cakes. SCORE! (Winners) Guess II - LOVE these shoes. Great to dress up jeans and a swingy top. (John David) Nina - My wedding shoes (sniff). I bought them online and prayed they would arrive on time and fit and look like the picture. They did!! They remind me of the Sex and the City "Hello Lover!" shoes that Carrie wears on Big's last day in New York, and then in the labour room while Miranda has the baby and they get ruined when Miranda's water breaks on them. (Nina online store) DSW - Caparros - Bought these at DSW in Boston when I was there for a Madonna concert. I was paralysed in the store and had to make myself choose a pair, or I would still be in the store now, three years later. True story. Payless - I don't know if you can sense a trend here, but I tend to buy shoes in two colours - Red or Black. These Payless shoes are not in great shape but I keep them because a) I was wearing them when I met my husband on Pizza Corner (classy!) and b) a woman nearly ran me over because she was staring so hard at my shoes she didn't realise she was also steering towards me. Payless shoes. Who would have thought? Gossip - I bought these to match a dress I wore to a Big Fat Greek Wedding (not my own) and haven't worn them since. Because I can't wear the dress again. Because somebody might notice that I've worn the dress to another wedding. And judge me. (Transit, I think) Aldo - These black patent leather shoes are tretcherous and less comfy than the Payless rip-offs in red I bought around the same time. Aldo = not my friend. (Aldo) Nine West - Bought these in Vegas and love them. Great for a casual movie night or something. If I ever went out for a casual movie night anymore. If I have a babysitter, I am not wasting time I could be drinking on sitting in a movie theatre. No sir. Mossimo for Target - Okay. I went to a wedding in Cambelltown, NB once and I spent AGES trying to find the perfect dress and shoes. I came across these at Target. The Banana Republic dress I wore was a great tangerine colour with gold accents - sort of elegant and Grecian inspired. And then everyone else at the wedding was wearing sweat pants and Tevas. I'm not kidding. (Target) Tenza - These shoes were the only heels I could wear when I was pregnant. I love the diagonal cross strap. (John David) Tenza - detail Aldo - These are brown patent leather - purchased for another Greek wedding. I love them, and I hate them. I love them because they are beautiful, I hate them because they don't fit properly. Aldo = not my friend (Aldo) Nine West - I bought these online while I was pregnant thinking that if i was going to wear flats, I should wear black suede flats with gold trim. I can't take myself seriously wearing these. They look like something Liza Minelli would wear if she wore flats. (Nine West online) Geox - Another from the bag of Mother-in-law shoes. These are Geox and comfy with skirts in the summer. (Geox store, Athens) Sasha London - Although they have seen better days, these shoes are some of my favorites. They have a built-in platform in the front that gives them a 40's pin-up look. (John David) Michel Kors - One word. Lucite. Only Michael Kors can make lucite look like something I would wear, and not something a hooker would wear. (John David) Joe - These run small. I swear. But look how cute! I wear these with jeans and a nautical blue and white striped headscarf and pretend it's the 60's. If only I had a matching apron.... Aldo - These are actually one of the few pairs of shoes I've had from Aldo that I love. I bought them last year and wear them with my turquoise necklace and it looks like I planned an outfit, as opposed to choosing whatever wasn't covered in crusted cookies. Aldo = sort of my friend. (Aldo) Payless - Love these gladiator inspired flats. The metal studs are great, and they are comfy to wear. (Payless) Betula - If you are going to wear Birkenstock-esqe shoes, for god's sake, make them zebra striped with diamante buckles. (Online) Browns - These are my attempt to be a yummy mummy. Great flats that don't have that &"'ve given up on life" look, but still allow me to push a stroller with ease. YAY Browns! (Browns, Montreal) Via Spiga - I once forwent paying rent to buy these boots. (Forwent?) I bought them from DJ Tannery (does anyone remember that store?) when it was going out of business. They are a deep brown croc leather, and they look soo good on. Even years later, I pull them out every fall to wear with my khakis and my tweek jacket. Love them. Of couse, I wouldn't skip rent to pay for shoes now. That's not what responsible adults do. (What baby? You want a banana? Not this month, dear. Mommy maxed her credit card buying discount Gucci sunglasses on Hautelook.com....) (DJ Tannery) Via Spiga - detail
