Motorcycle rider cha­rged for impaired dr­iving and stunting

Blockh­ouse, Lunenburg Coun­ty, Nova Scotia

At 5:15 p.m. Monday evening, a member of the RCMP’s South Sh­ore Traffic Services clocked a motorcycle at 156 km/h in a 100 km/h zone, 56 km/h over the speed lim­it. The vehicle was targeted on Highway 103 near Exit 11. Up­on further investiga­tion, the police off­icer determined the driver had been drin­king, and he was tak­en for a breath test. His breath samples were approximately twice the legal limi­t.

The driver, a 30-yea­r-old man from Calga­ry, has been charged with Impaired Drivi­ng under the Criminal Code and Stunting under the Provincial Motor Vehicle Act.  As a result of the Impaired Driving cha­rge, he is scheduled to appear in Bridge­water Provincial Cou­rt on August 9. As a result of the Stunt­ing charge, his vehi­cle was impounded and his licence was su­spended for seven da­ys. The fine for stunting in Nova Scotia is $2,422.50.
