Motorist alerts police to Impaired Driver, North Sydney, N.S.

The RCMP Cape Breton Traffic Service’s Unit arrested a man for Impaired Driving near Coxheath.

Yesterday,at approximately 3:30 p.m., a RCMP Officer was flagged down by a motorist on the Highway 125 near Coxheath.

The motorist advised that they had been following an erratic driver.

A short time later, officers located and pulled over a vehicle matching the description provided by the motorist. The male driver was arrested at the scene for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle. A breath test was administered and it was determined that the man’s blood alcohol level was over three times the legal limit.

A 56-year-old male from Ross Ferry is facing charges of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle along with Failing the Breathalyzer. He is scheduled to appear in Sydney Provincial Court on December 16th, 2013.

The police wish to thank the public for their continued assistance in the apprehension of those who drive while impaired. By working together we can keep Nova Scotia’s Highways safe.
