Motorist Hits Cyclist, Flees the Scene

Halifax Regional Police is asking for the public’s help in identifying a driver involved in a vehicle/cyclist collision that occurred yesterday in Halifax.

At 7:36 p.m., police responded to a report of a vehicle/cyclist collision that had occurred approximately fifteen minutes earlier at the intersection of Herring Cove Road and St. Michaels Avenue. A car turning right from St. Michaels Avenue onto Herring Cove Road hit the back tire of a 15-year-old male cyclist who was travelling northbound on Herring Cove Road, causing him to fall to the ground. The driver of the vehicle did not stop and continued along Herring Cove Road. The cyclist was transported to hospital by EHS with non-life threatening injuries.
 
Officers are looking to speak with the driver of the vehicle which is described as a beige Toyota Corolla. The only description of the driver is a white man, 40-60-years-old with short hair.
