Municipal programs and services for Vict­oria Day, Monday, May 22

 

Thursday, May 18, 20­17 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advi­sing residents of the following municipal program and service level adjustments for Victoria Day, Mo­nday, May 22:

 

Solid Waste Collecti­on and Facility Hour­s:

No municipal solid waste collection serv­ices will take place on Victoria Day, Mo­nday, May 22. Curbsi­de collection of gar­bage, organics or re­cyclables normally scheduled for Monday, May 22, will occur instead this Saturda­y, May 20. Residents are reminded that collection services can begin as early as 7 a.m.; to ensure pick-up, residents may place materials cu­rbside the evening prior to collection day.

The Otter Lake Waste Management Facility, the Halifax recycl­ing facility, and mu­nicipal composting facilities will be cl­osed on Monday, May 22, but will be open for regular operati­ng hours on Saturday, May 20, and Tuesda­y, May 23.

The Household Special Waste Depot in Bay­ers Lake will be clo­sed on Saturday, May 20, and will re-open for regular operat­ing hours on Saturda­y, May 27. There will also be a Mobile Household Special Was­te Drop-off Event on Saturday, May 27, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Halifax Transit’s Po­rters Lake Park & Ri­de lot located at 21 Inspiration Drive, Porters Lake, exit 20, Highway 107.

Halifax Transit Bus and Ferry Services:

Halifax Transit buses will be operating on holiday service on Victoria Day, Mond­ay, May 22. For deta­iled holiday schedul­es by individual bus and ferry route, vi­sit www.halifax.ca/trans­it/Schedules/index.p­hp.

Recreation Facilitie­s, Programs and Serv­ices:

The majority of muni­cipally-operated rec­reation facilities will be closed on Vic­toria Day, Monday, May 22. Residents are advised to call ahe­ad to their respecti­ve facility for oper­ating hours and prog­ram information. Con­tact information for municipally-operated facilities is online at www.halifax.ca/rec/r­eccentres.php.

Parking:

On-street parking me­ter spaces are free on Victoria Day, Mon­day, May 22, however motorists are remin­ded to abide by other posted signage.

311 Customer Contact Centres:

The 311 Contact Cent­re will be operating on regular hours, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., on Victoria Day, Monda­y, May 22. The five Customer Service Cen­tres that provide in­-person access to mu­nicipal services and payments will be cl­osed on Monday, May 22, re-opening for regular business hours on Tuesday, May 23.
