Municipal programs and services on Easter long weekend

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of the following municipal program and service level adjustments over the upcoming Easter long weekend:

Solid Waste Collection and Facility Hours

No municipal solid waste collection services will take place on Good Friday, April 19. Curbside collection of garbage, organics or recyclables normally scheduled for Friday, April 19, will occur instead the next day, Saturday, April 20. Residents are reminded that collection services can begin as early as 7 a.m.; to ensure pick-up, residents may place materials curbside the evening prior to collection day.

Regular curbside collection services will occur on Easter Monday, April 22.

The Otter Lake Waste Management Facility, the municipal recycling plant and municipal composting facilities will be closed on Good Friday, April 19 and Easter Sunday, April 21, but will be open for regular operating hours on Saturday, April 20 and Easter Monday, April 22.

The Household Special Waste Depot in Bayers Lake will be closed on Saturday, April 20, and will re-open for regular operating hours on Saturday, April 27.

Halifax Transit Bus and Ferry Services

Halifax Transit buses will be operating on holiday service on Good Friday, April 19, as well as Easter Sunday, April 21. Please note there will be no ferry service in operation on Good Friday, however, holiday ferry service will be provided on Easter Sunday. Recreation Facilities, Programs and Services

Many municipally-operated recreation facilities will be closed on Good Friday, April 19, Easter Sunday, April 21, and Easter Monday, April 22. Residents are advised to call ahead to their individual facility for operating hours and program information. Contact information for municipally-operated facilities is online at​ www.halifax.ca/rec/reccentres.php.

Parking

On-street parking meter spaces are free on Good Friday, April 19 and Easter Monday, April 22, however motorists are reminded to abide by other posted signage.

Customer Contact Centres

The 311 Contact Centre will be operating on regular hours, Friday, April 19 and Monday, April 22 (from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) and Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21 (from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.)

The five Customer Service Centres that provide in-person access to municipal services and payments will be closed on Good Friday, April 19, and Easter Monday, April 22, re-opening for regular business hours on Tuesday, April 23.
