Municipal programs and services on Easter weekend

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of the following municipal program and service level adjustments over the upcoming Easter weekend:

Solid Waste Collection and Facility Hours: No municipal solid waste collection services will take place on Good Friday, March 30. Curbside collection of garbage, organics or recyclables normally scheduled for Friday, March 30, will occur instead the next day, Saturday, March 31. Residents are reminded that collection services can begin as early as 7 a.m.; to ensure pick-up, residents may place materials curbside the evening prior to collection day.

Regular curbside collection services will occur on Easter Monday, April 2.

The Otter Lake Waste Management Facility, the municipal recycling plant and municipal composting facilities will be closed on Good Friday, March 30 and Easter Sunday, April 1, but will be open for regular operating hours on Saturday, March 31 and Easter Monday, April 2.

The Household Special Waste Depot in Bayers Lake will be closed on Saturday, March 31, and will re-open for regular operating hours on Saturday, April 7.

Halifax Transit Bus and Ferry Services:Halifax Transit buses will be operating on holiday service on Good Friday, March 30, as well as Easter Sunday, April 1. Please note there will be no ferry service in operation on Good Friday, March 30, or Easter Sunday, April 1. Recreation Facilities, Programs and Services:Many municipally-operated recreation facilities will be closed on Good Friday, March 30, Easter Sunday, April 1, and Easter Monday, April 2. Residents are advised to call ahead to their individual facility for operating hours and program information. Contact information for municipally-operated facilities is online atwww.halifax.ca/rec/reccentres.php.

Parking: On-street parking meter spaces are free on Good Friday, March 30 and Easter Monday, April 2, however motorists are reminded to abide by other posted signage.

Customer Contact Centres: The 311 Contact Centre will be operating on regular hours, Friday and Monday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The five Customer Service Centres that provide in-person access to municipal services and payments will be closed on Good Friday, March 30, and Easter Monday, April 2, re-opening for regular business hours on Tuesday, April 3.
