Nanny Fiction – Minding Ben by Victoria Brown

Nanny fiction was a bit of publishing trend a few years ago following the publication of The Nanny Diaries by Emma McClaughlin and Nicola Kraus. That book was a very big hit, eventually leading to a feature film version starring Scarlett Johansson. The sequel novel was published in 2009.

We actually now have over 60 items in our catalogue with the heading “nannies- fiction“, ranging from chick lit to disturbing thrillers…..

Well get ready for another great nanny themed book.

Minding Ben by Victoria Brown is getting all kinds of great press.

“…In her first novel, Brown, herself an immigrant who worked as a nanny, brings alive both Grace’s quest to be independent and her resourcefulness in dealing with the condescension of Manhattan’s elite.” – Booklist

“Brilliant Highbrow- Victoria Brown’s Minding Ben, a more realistic Nanny Diaries from the perspective of a Trinidadian woman.” – New York Magazine

Revealing New York’s melting pot at its most complicated, this interesting first novel is told from the perspective of someone who has been there and done that. Brown drew from her personal experience as a young immigrant nanny, and her story is fascinating, tender, and heartbreaking.” – Library Journal
