New Award for Excellence in Nova Scotia Wines

Nova Scotia wineries are invited to submit their very best wines to be considered for a new award by Lt.-Gov. J.J. Grant, in partnership with the Winery Association of Nova Scotia.

The Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Excellence in Nova Scotia Wines recognizes the exceptional quality of locally sourced and produced wines, and honours the dedication and passion of Nova Scotia’s wine industry.

“Nova Scotians are rightly proud of our local wine industry’s outstanding achievements and significant contributions to the province, particularly in rural communities,” said Lt.-Gov. J.J. Grant. “I encourage eligible wineries to submit their best wines for this unique award.”

Through a blind tasting, an independent panel of experts will select three to five wines as the best of Nova Scotia, regardless of varietal or year. Winning wines will be announced in July at an awards ceremony hosted by the lieutenant governor at Government House.

The competition is open to all Winery Association of Nova Scotia members. Wineries may submit up to three commercially available grape wines, produced and sourced 100 per cent in Nova Scotia, for consideration.

Submission forms and guidelines are available at http://winesofnovascotia.ca . Entry forms must be submitted by May 23, and bottles must be submitted by May 30.
