New Facebook group discusses District 9 issues

If you are on Facebook, you may wish to join the new group "District 9 (Penninsula West-Armdale) Discussion Group." The name is pretty self-explanatory. If you live in this area and want to talk about its issues, this is a good spot. The group is up to 106 members as I write this, and the discussion seems pretty active. Here's a sampling of some topics that were posted recently: -Does anyone else think that speeders are getting out of control on Purcell's Cove Rd through to John Brackett Dr.? I have seen many, mostly motorcycles and was rattled by one bike doing a wheelie whilst passing a line of cars on a double line. Maybe, along with speed traps, it's time to reduce the posted speed to 50 kms all up to Herring Cove and while we're at it, reduce the posted speed on Ketch Harbour Rd.-So many new houses going up on our street lately. Do others notice an increase in rate of new housing developments?-I've been reading the Healthy Places Toolkit, a document developed by the Healthy Housing, Healthy Community Project in Spryfield. It talks about the importance of "third places", informal meeting places in neighbourhoods outside of home or work. They can include coffee shops, parks, trails, streets, sidewalks or the local post office. What places do you love to visit to meet with friends and neighbours? I'm sitting at the Armview as I write this. Great food, free Wifi, relaxed atmosphere & a Sunday night open mic! I often meet friends and others here.-Too many dog owners not picking up after their dogs at the Frog Pond, and some inconsiderate owners leaving the poop bag on the trail....
