New Year, New Gas Hikes

If you're lucky enough this holiday season for Santa to bring you a little extra dough,  it might be a good idea to squirrel some away for January 6, 2012.

For all you drivers out there, that is when gas prices are slated to go up again. According to Metro Halifax, the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board has approved cost hikes for minimum self-serve and full-serve markups by 0.8 cents per litre, with a maximum self-serve markup capped at 1.1 cents per litre.

This translates to a hike of 0.15 to 0.31 cents per litre for motorists filling up. The increases come at the request of Irving Oil Marketing and Esso who both submitted applications to the Utility and Review Board requesting a raise.
