Improvements to highway 107 will be made at night to minimize impact for road users and to speed up the work being done.

Beginning Monday, May 26, the road between Exit 21 at East Chezzetcook and the end of the highway at Musquodoboit Harbour, will be closed to traffic at night for repaving, widening, installation of rumble strips and new guardrail.

During weekdays, the highway will be closed from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m.

On weekends, the road will close at 7 p.m. and reopen at 8 a.m.

“We completed three major projects at night last year with excellent results,” said Geoff MacLellan, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal. “There’s minimal disruption for motorists, and construction crews can get the job done more quickly and safely when there are fewer vehicles moving through the construction zone.”

A detour will move traffic to Highway 7. Signs will be onsite to alert drivers to the road closures and detour route.

The $2,758,000 project was awarded to Dexter Construction and will take about 30 days to complete.
