Nova Scotia Power warns customers of new phone scam

Nova Scotia Power is warning customers about a new phone scam that has recently surfaced in the Halifax
area, which appears to be targeting business and commercial customers.

In this scam, the caller poses as a representative of the company and demands a cash payment at a designated location or risk having their power disconnected the same day.

These calls are not from Nova Scotia Power.   Nova Scotia Power does not require in-person bill payments, and the
company would never call out of the blue and issue an ultimatum on first contact.

Any customers who are suspicious
about a request for payment are urged to call the company’s Customer Care Centre at 1-800-428-6230 to confirm its legitimacy.

Customers should report any attempted fraud to local police.
