Sales up across the board
The Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation reported third-quarter financial results Monday, posting total sales of $236.2 million for the period ending December 28, 2025, a 2.3% increase over the same quarter last year. Net income came in at $76.7 million, up 1.3% year over year.
Cannabis and local products lead the way
Cannabis continued to be a growth driver for the corporation, with sales rising 10.0% to $34.8 million. Beverage alcohol sales grew more modestly, up 1.1% to $201.4 million.
Local products were a standout, with total Nova Scotia sales climbing 10.3% to $37.9 million. Ready-to-drink products led the way, up 14.7% to $9.8 million, followed by Nova Scotia spirits at 14.5% growth and wine at 14.1%.
U.S. products return to shelves
The quarter also captured the first sales data for U.S. products following their return to shelves December 1, after the province reversed a tariff-related removal in late November. In the first week back, U.S. products generated approximately $3.4 million, contributing to $6.7 million in total third-quarter U.S. sales.
New Dartmouth Crossing store opens
The NSLC’s new Dartmouth Crossing location opened November 17, becoming the largest store in the corporation’s portfolio. The store features an expanded product selection, a new cannabis shopping experience, and the largest NSLC cold room in the province.
Online and specialty store sales climb
Online sales were up 19.3% to $0.7 million, while Private Wine and Specialty Store sales jumped 13.4% to $5.4 million.
Safe Ride program delivers 73,000 free rides
Through a partnership with Coors Light and Halifax Transit, the NSLC’s Safe Ride program provided more than 73,000 free rides during the quarter, with over 61,000 of those coming from free Saturday transit service throughout December.
By the numbers
The NSLC’s operating expense ratio for the quarter was 17.6%, down slightly from 17.7% the prior year. The corporation returns 100% of its profits to the provincial government.
