Ode to Lace

Innocent, yet equally provocative; lace seems to have it’s place in the bedroom, and the sidewalk. There’s a tension that occurs between the sheerness of lace, and it’s fragile delicate pattern. It shows a little, but still leaves just enough for the imagination. Inspired by one of my favorite bloggers, today’s look of the day is lace.

‘Lace-making is an ancient craft. True lace was not made until the late 15th and early 16th centuries. A true lace is created when a thread is looped, twisted or braided to other threads independently from a backing fabric.

Originally linen, silk, gold, or silver threads were used. Now lace is often made with cotton thread. Manufactured lace may be made of synthetic fiber. A few modern artists make lace with a fine copper or silver wire instead of thread’

Lace T @ Ferrara Cafe NYC

This blog post ends on a tragic note, when I was in NYC there was a beautiful lace scarf in Little Italy, and I am still asking myself why I didn’t buy it. Oh right! I remember I put it down and another woman snatched right up from under me. Rats! It was the only one of it’s kind, and I didn’t have the heart to ask the older woman for the scarf back. I sure do wish I had more guts sometimes.
