Off-duty RCMP officer’s vehicles damaged by arson

Just before 1 a.m., members of Cumberland District RCMP were called to the scene of a suspicious car fire on Hwy. 366. Two vehicles that had been parked in a driveway of a home were damaged, and the victim, an off-duty RCMP officer, saw a small car speeding away in the direction of Pugwash. The RCMP officer was alerted by his dogs barking.

The interiors of the vehicles were damaged, and Tidnish Bridge Volunteer Fire Department arrived to extinguish the fire. Investigators believe something flammable was placed inside both vehicles. No one was hurt.
