Halifax Regional Police has charged a man in relation to a dangerous driving and assault with a weapon incident that occurred earlier this year.
On February 17, at approximately 8 p.m., officers responded to a possible theft from motor vehicle in progress on McFatridge Road in Halifax. Officers spoke with two men in a vehicle and observed what they believed to be alcohol and drugs in the vehicle. When officers attempted to arrest the driver, he fled at a high rate of speed nearly striking the officer with the vehicle. The vehicle was not pursued out of concern for public safety.
Yesterday, the driver turned himself in at police headquarters at 1975 Gottingen Street in Halifax.
Vernon Washington Brown, 23, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face charges of:
- Dangerous operation of a conveyance
- Assault with a weapon
