One Book Nova Scotia launch

One Book Nova Scotia launch Tomorrow will be an exciting and somewhat historic day for fans of Nova Scotia literature. The One Book Nova Scotia team will be announcing the chosen book for the inaugural One Book Nova Scotia community reading event.
The big announcement will be made tomorrow morning at the official 1BNS launch, Friday Sept 21st, 10:30 am at the Keshen Goodman Public Library. Please drop by the branch and join in the excitement and celebration.
Here are more details about the project:

One Book Nova Scotia is a province-wide community reading event for adults. Nova Scotians are invited to read/listen to, discuss and get excited about the same book.
One Book Nova Scotia launch The program aims to:
  • encourage reading and contribute to the development of a reading culture in Nova Scotia and therefore to a more literate community;
  • create opportunities for social interaction and community development;
  • support life-long learning by providing opportunities for members of the community to learn and grow in reading and literary development; and
  • allow those in the literary community to work together in new ways and develop stronger relationships.
The program runs from September 21 until November 9. Events with the author, such as readings, will take place in libraries across the province.
One Book Nova Scotia is organized under Libraries Nova Scotia (LNS). LNS represents public, university, and community college libraries and the Nova Scotia Provincial Library. The Nova Scotia Department of Communities, Culture & Heritage and the Writers’ Federation of Nova Scotia are also involved in this initiative.
The One Book movement began in 1998 out of Seattle Public Library. This is the first time it has been carried out on a province-wide basis in Nova Scotia.
