Orangedale – Iona Road closed to traffic, Orangedale, N.S.

Waycobah RCMP and Cape Breton Nova Scotia Railing Company wish to advise the motoring public that the Orangedale-Iona Road is currently closed. At approximately 2 p.m. this afternoon, Waycobah RCMP received a call about a locomotive off the tracks in Orangedale.

At approximately 2 p.m. this afternoon, Waycobah RCMP received a call about a locomotive off the tracks in Orangedale.

The train’s nine cars remained on the track and there were no injuries or damage to property. Another locomotive is on its way to remove the train cars blocking the road.

The RCMP has left the scene however the Cape Breton Nova Scotia Railing Company expects the highway to be closed for approximately two hours.
