Pedestrian hit on Bedford Highway, then ticketed

Police have ticketed a man in relation to failing to yield to traffic earlier today in Halifax.

On October 2, 2020 at 4:45 p.m. Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a pedestrian who had been hit by a vehicle in the 0-100 block of the Bedford Highway.

The investigation determined that the pedestrian attempted to cross four lanes of traffic during rush hour when he was hit by a small sedan. The investigation determined he was not in a crosswalk or another acceptable area to cross the road when he was struck.

The man suffered minor injuries and the driver of the sedan was not injured.

The pedestrian, a 59-year-old Halifax man was issued a summary offence ticket contrary to section 125 of the Motor Vehicle Act for crossing a roadway outside of a crosswalk zone failing to yield to traffic.
