Woman hit and seriously injured in marked crosswalk

Halifax Regional Police investigated a vehicle pedestrian collision that occurred this morning in Halifax.

At approximately 9:35 a.m. officers responded to a report of an injured pedestrian at the intersection of Gottingen Street and Charles Street. A vehicle travelling south on Gottingen Street hit a 23-year-old woman that was crossing Gottingen Street in a marked crosswalk. 

The pedestrian was taken to hospital by EHS for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Gottingen Street was closed to traffic between Uniacke Street and North Street for several hours while the construction reconstruction unit and the forensic identification section documented the scene. The road re-opened at 1 p.m. The collision remains under investigation.
