Phone Tender to Get Independent Review

A multi-year, multi-million dollar tender for local voice telephone services is being placed on hold pending an investigation into allegations the procurement process was flawed.

“Whether or not these allegations have merit remains to be seen,” said Labi Kousoulis, Minister of Information Management.

“However, they are of such a serious nature and the contract is of such a magnitude, that I believe an independent review is warranted.”

Government’s internal audit group will oversee the audit and prepare the terms of reference.

The group will likely hire telecommunications procurement experts to help with the review, which is expected to take four to six weeks.
