RCMP apprehend potential robbery suspect, Bear River, N.S.

Annapolis County RCMP arrested a 34-year-old man yesterday in relation to an incident at a local Cafe. At approximately 1:20 p.m., Annapolis County RCMP received a 911 call from staff at Myrtles and Rosie's Cafe indicating a man had been in the Cafe with a knife in his pocket.

At approximately 1:20 p.m., Annapolis County RCMP received a 911 call from staff at Myrtles and Rosie’s Cafe indicating a man had been in the Cafe with a knife in his pocket.

The caller also indicated that the man had fled the store after stealing a number of items. Members from Digby RCMP were alerted and a Digby member who was in the area located the suspect a short distance away. The suspect was arrested without incident and two knives and a number of items were seized from him. The suspect was transported to Digby cells and lodged over night.

Mark Anthony Higdon of Digby County was charged with theft under $5000 and Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public. He appeared in Annapolis Royal Provincial Court earlier today, pled guilty and received one year probation.
