At 4pm yesterday, police responded to Ruben Crt. in Dartmouth to a report of a male waving a handgun. The accused, age 18, was arrested after a brief foot pursuit. Ammunition and drugs were found on his person and, a 9MM handgun that he dropped while fleeing police was located nearby.
Investigators learned that the accused pointed and pulled the trigger at least twice during the confrontation attempting to shoot the victim. The firearm thankfully malfunctioned this afternoon during this attempted murder.
The confrontation was the result of the victim’s sister identifying the accused, as a person who committed a home invasion at her residence on the 100 block on Kennedy Dr. on August 8th.
A 21 year old male was present during tonight’s incident and, was also identified as a participant in the Aug 8th home invasion. He was arrested at the scene.

Update:
Through the course of the investigation into yesterday’s incident, a third person involved in the original home invasion on August 8 was arrested without incident in the 0-100 block of Ruben Court in Dartmouth at 10:35 p.m. last night. The 30-year-old Dartmouth man is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today where he will face charges of robbery and, breach of probation.
