Picnicface goes national with a radio special

Press Release:
Sketch-comedy troupe Picnicface will be entertaining the nation in a new CBC Radio special to air later this year. The show is being taped in front of a live audience at the Dunn Theatre at the Dalhousie Arts Centre on Friday, February 19 at 7 p.m.

Picnicface has been featured on the CBC Radio network show, Laugh Out Loud, but this is the first radio show devoted to the troupe’s comedy. Troupe member Bill Wood is looking forward to this opportunity. “We’ve done sketch in every other medium but for us radio is like the new frontier, only with less small pox!”

The sketch-comedy troupe hit it big time with its viral hit, Powerthirst, which has garnered over 18-million views on YouTube. They’ve been gaining popularity with appearances across Canada and in the US ever since. “Picnicface is one of the hottest comedy troupes in the country. They represent the next generation of comedy talent and as such it was only natural that we wanted to work with them and introduce them to our radio audience”, said Tom Anniko, Executive Producer, Comedy/Drama Development, CBC English Radio.

Tickets to see the live taping on February 19 are $10 and can be purchased at the Rebecca Cohn Box Office. The Box office number is 902-494-3820.
