Pictou County District RCMP are investigating a collision between a pick-up truck and an all terrain vehicle (ATV) that occurred in Thorburn at approx. 8:10 p.m. Sunday evening.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the ATV entered the intersection at a high rate of speed and was unable to negotiate a turn.

The two adult male riders of the ATV were brought to the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow with serious injuries. One of the men was later airlifted to Halifax for further medical treatment. Neither man was wearing a helmet.

A four-year-old child in the truck received minor injuries. The two adult occupants of the truck were not injured.

A collision analyst from Pictou District RCMP was called into examine the scene.

The investigation continues.
