Pictou County RCMP are investigating a two vehicle crash on Highway 6 that sent three people to hospital.

At 5:20 p.m., Pictou County RCMP, Caribou & District Fire and Emergency Health Services responded to a two vehicle crash in the 7000 block on highway 6 in Three Brooks.

Preliminary investigation determined two vehicles travelling toward each other collided. A third vehicle, not directly involved in the crash, applied its brakes to avoid the collision and ran off the roadway. The driver, a lone occupant of that vehicle, was not injured.

Three of the four people in the two vehicles that collided were transported to hospital with varying levels of injuries from serious but not life-threatening to minor in nature. They range in age from a 75-year-old man, a female in her mid-twenties to 13-year-old boy. The males are from River John, the female is from Pictou. The highway was slippery and snow covered at the time of the crash.

RCMP continue to investigate to determine the exact cause of the crash.
