Pictou Landing man facing charges following standoff

Release:

A short time before 3 a.m. today, members of Pictou District RCMP responded to a call on Eagle Rd. in Pictou Landing for a complaint of that a man threatened to burn another person’s home down. Police went to the home, and the suspect had left the area, and returned to his own home nearby. The two police officers located the suspect inside his home on Beach Rd., and while they were there, the suspect told them to leave or he would shoot them.

Additional RCMP resources, including the RCMP’s Emergency Response Team, were called to the scene to assist. The suspect was arrested several hours later when he walked out of his home, unarmed, just before 10 a.m. No one was injured during the incident.

Darryl Joseph Toney, 40, of Pictou Landing has been charged with two counts of Breaching Conditions and three counts of Uttering Threats. He was remanded into custody and returns to court in Pictou tomorrow. The investigation is ongoing.
