Please be advised that the Warming Centre will be open tomorrow, Saturday, January 12th from 8 am – 12 pm and again from 4 pm – 8:30 pm

Out of the Cold is holding Volunteer Training between the hours of 12 pm – 4 pm so the Warming Centre will be shut down during this time period.  Guests will be given a gift card to support them in finding another warm space for a few hours until we reopen at 4 pm.

The Warming Centre is a relaxed space that allows community members to come in from the outside and stay warm on cold days. The idea is that we are offering an alternate space from the cold and weather until the library and other spaces open up and/or folks who are unable to access warm spaces. In order for the Warming Centre to be open, Environment Canada’s forecast will be calling for – 15 degrees (with windchill), or 25 cm of snow. Occasionally the Warming Centre may be open due to other weather conditions at the discretion of the organizers.

The Warming Centre is located in the basement of St. Matt’s Church, at 1479 Barrington St in Halifax. Entry to the Warming Centre is the door to the left of the church, down the large set of stairs into the side yard.
