Police arrest revoked driver who fled checkpoint

Members of East Hants District RCMP were conducting a traffic checkpoint on Highway 354 in Upper Rawdon, on July 7. At approximately 11:00 a.m., a male driver was directed to stop by an officer who noted that the vehicle’s licence plate had an expired sticker. The driver pulled over and stopped, however, fled the scene a short time later.

Police conducted extensive patrols of the area and located the vehicle at a nearby home. The driver, a 28-year-old man from Upper Rawdon, was arrested and is facing the following charges: ​

  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Driving Without Insurance (Motor Vehicle Act)
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Driving Without Registration (Motor Vehicle Act)

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in Truro Provincial Court on August 12.
