Police asking for assistance in reported sexual assault incident, Halifax, N.S.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance regarding a recently reported sexual assault in Lower Sackville.

On October 21st, 2014 at approximately 6:35 a.m., Lower Sackville RCMP received information indicating that a 37-year-old female had been sexually assaulted on a pathway near the Kinsmen Club and Sackville High School.

Police began to investigate immediately and are looking for two male suspects driving a dark-colored two-door car. The victim indicated that the car had been parked at the Kinsmen Club parking lot.

‘After going through a traumatic event, it can be very challenging for victims to recall descriptive information,’ says Cpl. Greg Church, Halifax District RCMP. ‘At this time we have no further details and that is why are asking for the public’s help. If you have any information, please come forward – no detail is too small.’

If you believe you have any information regarding this incident, please contact any RCMP Detachment, Halifax Regional Police, local police or Crime Stoppers anonymously anytime at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or by their Secure Web Tips at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca . Calls to Crime Stoppers are not taped or traced and if police make an arrest and lay charges based on a tip, callers qualify for a cash award from $50 – $2000.

Public safety is always a priority for the police so we are reminding citizens to always be vigilant and pay attention to their surroundings. As well, when heading out, where possible take a friend.

The Integrated Sexual Assault Investigation Team continues to work with the victim and investigate the incident.
