Police Charge Man with Stunting

A man faces a stunting charge as a result of a traffic stop yesterday in Spryfield.
At approximately 11:55 a.m., officers observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed outbound on Herring Cove Road, passing Drysdale Road. Officers were able to clock the speed of the vehicle at 118 km/h; the speed limit in the area is 50 km/h. The Ford Windstar was eventually stopped on Sylvia Avenue.
The 39-year-old male driver was served with two summary offence tickets, one for stunting and one for driving while suspended. He also had his vehicle impounded for seven days. A stunting charge carries a penalty of $2,314.41 upon conviction.
Speed is a major contributing factor in motor vehicle collisions. We remind motorists that increased speed decreases your reaction time and increases your stopping distance.
