Police charge multiple people after search of two illegal cannabis dispensaries

Police have charged multiple people after conducting a search on two separate illegal cannabis dispensaries last week.

Shortly after 1 p.m. on April 25, members of the Drug Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division conducted a search warrant on Doug’s Place located at 19 Alma Crescent in Halifax. Investigators seized over $900, approximately three pounds of cannabis, and over 300 other cannabis products.

A 23-year-old Sackville man is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date to face charges of:

  • Possession of cannabis for the purpose of distributing contrary to section 9(2) of the Cannabis Act
  • Possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling contrary to section 10(2) of the Cannabis Act ​
  • Obstruct police contrary to section 129(a) of the Criminal Code

At approximately 10 a.m. on April 26, members of the Drug Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division conducted a search warrant at the Atlantic Compassion Club Society located at 141A Main Street Dartmouth. Investigators seized over $7000, over five pounds of cannabis, and more than 2500 other cannabis products.

Nine people, a 32-year-old Cole Harbour man,​ 51-year-old Dartmouth woman, a 22-yeal-old Dartmouth man, a 31-year-old Dartmouth man, a 39-year-old Dean woman, a 26-year-old Lawrencetown man, a 21-year-old Halifax woman, a 21-year-old Cole Harbour man, and a 32-year-old Halifax man, have all been charged with Possession of cannabis for the purpose of distributing contrary to section 9(2) and Possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling contrary to section 10(2) of the Cannabis Act. ​ They are all scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date to face the charges.
