Police charge woman in robbery in Dartmouth

Halifax Regional Police have charged a woman in connection with a robbery that occurred early Saturday morning in Dartmouth.

At 5:16 a.m. on December 9, police responded to a robbery in the 500 block of Portland Street. A woman approached a man from behind and pointed a large knife at him. The woman demanded the victim withdraw money and give it to her, however, he was able to get away without giving the her any money and 911 was called. The victim was not physically injured.

Officers located a woman in the area matching the suspect’s description. The woman was transported to police headquarters where she was held in custody.

Police have charged 58-year-old Juanita MacNeil of Lakeside, with one count of robbery and one count of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose. She is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today.
