Police charge youth with weapons offences

Halifax Regional Police have charged a youth with weapons offences in relation to an incident that happened earlier today in Halifax.

At 1:25 p.m., police responded to a weapons complaint at the Halifax Shopping Centre, located at 7001 Mumford Road in Halifax.

Information was received that a firearm was seen on a youth at that location. The suspect was taken into custody a short time later without incident and a replica firearm was seized.

A 17-year-old youth has been charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace and carrying a concealed weapon. The youth was released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
