Halifax District RCMP and the General Investigation Section (GIS) of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continue to investigate a shooting that took place earlier today sending one man to hospital with serious gunshot injuries.

At approximately 9:25 a.m., Halifax District RCMP, Halifax Regional Police (HRP) Patrol Officers, RCMP Police Dog Service, HRP K-9 and GIS responded to a complaint of a shooting on Merrimac Dr. in Cole Harbour.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 22-year-old man from Dartmouth was sitting in a vehicle when he was shot by a suspect through the driver`s side window. The victim was transported to hospital, where he currently remains, with serious life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are actively pursuing leads and request that anyone with information call 902-490-5020. Investigators are also looking to speak with anyone who may have been in the area of Merrimac Dr. around the time of the shooting to call them. Every piece of information is important and what may seem unrelated or not important could be crucial to the investigation.
