Corrections Officer arrested in drug trafficking investigation, Dartmouth, N.S.

The Combined Forces Intelligence Unit, with assistance of Halifax Regional Police and Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility, have arrested an employee of the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility as part of a drug trafficking investigation.

The investigation, which began in July 2015, identified an employee who was responsible for trafficking drugs within the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility. A quantity of drugs and cash were seized during this investigation.

The 39-year-old male was arrested yesterday in Shubenacadie without incident. He is facing charges of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, Possessing Proceeds of Crime and Breach of Trust. He will appear in Shubenacadie Provincial Court on December 7, 2015.

The investigation is continuing.
