Police charge man for Halifax stabbing

Police have charged a man in relation to a stabbing that occurred in Halifax last night.

At approximately 12:05 a.m., police responded to a report of an injured man in the 1500 block of Argyle Street in downtown Halifax. Officers determined that the 27-year-old victim had been stabbed during an altercation with a man who was known to him.​ Shortly after, police arrested a suspect in the area without incident.​ ​

The victim was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. ​

Joshua Ward, 26, of Halifax is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of:

  • Attempt murder contrary to Section 239 of the criminal code
  • Possession of weapon dangerous contrary to Section 88(1) of the criminal code
  • Possession of concealed weapon contrary to Section 90(1) of the criminal code
  • Breach of recognizance contrary to Section 145(3) of the criminal code
