RCMP investigated eight alcohol-related driving incidents over the weekend

Halifax District RCMP and RCMP Southeast Traffic Services investigated eight alcohol-related incidents between​ 7​ p.m. August 16 and​ 1​ a.m. August​ 19 in the Halifax Regional Municipality.

On August 16, at 7: 20 p.m., RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Hwy. 102 in Goffs. The driver, a 32-year-old man from Lakeside, was issued a seven-day suspension following a Roadside Screening Device Test. That same evening at 8:50 p.m., RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Glenmore Rd. in Middle Musquodoboit. The driver, a 25-year-old man from Brookvale, was issued a seven-day suspension following a Roadside Screening Device Test.

On August 17, at 12:30 a.m., RCMP checked a vehicle during a checkpoint near Hwy. 102 in Bedford. Investigation at the scene resulted in the driver, a 40-year-old woman from Lower Sackville, being arrested for impaired driving.​ She has been charged with Impaired Operation (by alcohol) of a Conveyance and Impaired Operation (by alcohol) of a Conveyance with a Blood Alcohol Concentration that is equal to or exceeds​ 80​ mg% and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on November​ 20.

At 1 a.m. on August 17, RCMP checked a vehicle during a checkpoint near Hwy. 102 in Bedford. ​ The driver, a 28-year-old woman from Upper Hammonds Plains, was issued a seven-day suspension following a Roadside Screening Device Test.

On August 18 at 2:20 a.m., RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Hwy. 7 in Westphal. The driver, a 21-year-old man from Lawrencetown, was issued a seven-day suspension following a Roadside Screening Device Test and breath samples.

At 5:40 p.m. on August 18, RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Hwy. 102 in Goffs. Investigation at the scene resulted in the driver, a 43-year-old from Texas, being arrested for impaired driving.​ He has been charged with Impaired Operation (by alcohol) of a Conveyance and Impaired Operation (by alcohol) of a Conveyance with a Blood Alcohol Concentration that is equal to or exceeds​ 80​ mg%.​ He appeared in Dartmouth Provincial Court on August 19.

At 9:50 p.m. on August 18, RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Portland St. in Dartmouth.​ The driver, a 35-year-old man from Colby Village, was issued a seven-day suspension following a Roadside Screening Device Test.

On August 19 at 1 a.m., RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision on Cow Bay Rd. in Cow Bay.​ The driver, a 21-year-old man from Dartmouth, was issued a seven-day suspension following a Roadside Screening Device Test.
