Police investigate fatal collision in Springhill

Cumberland County District RCMP is investigating a fatal collision that occurred in Springhill Junction.

August 14th at approximately 5:30 p.m., Cumberland County District RCMP, fire and EHS, responded to a report of a collision on Hwy. 104. RCMP officers learned that a tractor trailer was travelling on the highway when it struck the driver of a pickup truck who had parked and exited his vehicle to secure the load he was transporting.

The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado, a 53-year-old Lower Sackville man, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Silverado’s youth passenger was not injured.

The driver of the tractor trailer did not suffer injuries.

A collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

Hwy. 104 was closed for several hours, but has since reopened.
