Police Investigate Impaired Driver and Vehicle Collision – Halifax
At 3:32 a.m., Halifax Regional Police received a report of a Motor Vehicle Collision where a SUV struck a utility pole, breaking it off at the base in the 6100 block of Young Street Halifax. Callers observed an adult male exit the vehicle. Shortly after officers arrived and located the male driver, who was showing signs of impairment and confirmed he was the sole occupant. Officers arrested the male for impaired driving. The driver did not sustain any injuries. However, the collision did knocked out the power for most of the West end of Halifax.
Traffic was reduced to one lane east bound on Young Street while Nova Scotia Power replaced the utility pole and electrical lines.
A 25-year-old male from Halifax will appear in Halifax Court on a later date and will be facing impaired driving charges.
