Police Investigate Impaired Driver and Vehicle Collision – Halifax

At 3:32 a.m., Halifax Regional Police received a report of a Motor Vehicle Collision where a SUV struck a utility pole, breaking it off at the base in the 6100 block of Young Street Halifax.​ Callers observed an adult male exit the vehicle.​ Shortly after officers arrived and located the male driver, who was showing signs of impairment and confirmed he was the sole occupant.​ Officers arrested the male for impaired driving.​ The driver did not sustain any injuries.​ However, the collision did knocked out the power for most of the West end of Halifax.​

Traffic was reduced to one lane east bound on Young Street while Nova Scotia Power replaced the utility pole and electrical lines.​

A 25-year-old male from Halifax will appear in Halifax Court on a later date and will be facing impaired driving charges.​
