At 6:35 p.m., police responded to a call inside the mall located at 5657 Spring Garden Road in Halifax. A man entered a store and attempted to trade merchandise from another store. When the clerk refused to do the trade, the man grabbed an exacto knife from the cash register counter and pointed it at the clerk in a threatening manner while shouting obscenities. He left the store and was arrested without incident on Barrington Street a short time later. He was found in possession of goods that were stolen at another Parklane Mall store. The clerk was not injured.
 
Fifty-one-year-old Peter Courtney Fraser of Halifax was held in custody overnight. He will appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of assault with a weapon, theft under $5,000, possession of stolen goods under $5,000 and multiple breaches of court orders.
