Police investigate sudden death of female, Marshville, N.S.

Pictou County RCMP investigate the sudden death of a 66-year-old female near Marshville, Pictou County. At approximately 8 p.m. RCMP responded to assist a person who was in distress while using a one-person inflatable dingy, which had been caught in the current of the changing tide.

At approximately 8 p.m. RCMP responded to assist a person who was in distress while using a one-person inflatable dingy, which had been caught in the current of the changing tide.

The dingy was being taken out into the Northumberland Straight.

With assistance from Emergency Health Services, River John Fire Dept. and the Canadian Coast Guard rescue boats located the dingy a short time later. The female from Moncton was found in the dingy with no vital signs and was later pronounced dead at the hospital in New Glasgow.

The name of the deceased and details are being withheld, pending the notification of next of kin. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner’s office is assisting. The investigation is ongoing.
