Police investigate suspected arson at home, occupants escape

Colchester County District RCMP is investigating a suspected arson that occurred on Pictou Rd. in Bible Hill.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. this morning, Colchester County District RCMP, fire and EHS, responded to a report of a house fire on Pictou Rd. in Bible Hill. RCMP officers learned that all of the occupants of the home had safely escaped and that fire fighters were working on extinguishing the fire. Once the fire was extinguished, an examination of the scene was conducted and RCMP investigators suspect that the fire was the result of arson.

At approximately the same time, an RCMP officer observed a vehicle travelling on the wrong side of Hwy. 104, near the interchange with Hwy. 102. The vehicle, a grey 2008 Honda Accord bearing Nova Scotia license plate GJU921, was located abandoned on the side of Hwy. 104 a short time later and, no one was located in the area.

RCMP investigators located items in the Honda Accord that are believed to be connected to the suspected arson in Bible Hill. The vehicle was seized and RCMP Forensic Identification Services are conducting a forensic examination of the vehicle.
