Investigators with the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section are asking for the public’s help in connection with six suspicious fires that occurred in the past two days in north end Halifax.
On July 21, Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency responded to a brush fire in the 3800 block of Macintosh Street. Yesterday, firefighters and police responded to an additional five calls in the same area involving brush and dumpster fires. All the fires were quickly extinguished, no property damage was reported and no one was injured. Investigators recovered evidence at the scene that led them to believe that the fires were deliberately set.

Investigators are looking to speak with a man seen in the area of at least two of the fires. He is described as a white man in his thirties with a scruffy beard. He was observed yesterday wearing a black t-shirt, black shorts and was travelling on a bicycle.

Anyone with information about this man or these incidents is asked to contact police at 490-5016. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or texting a tip – Tip 202 + your message to 274637.
