Police investigating weapons/property damage complaints

Halifax Regional Police is investigating two property damage complaints, one of which involved a firearm.

At 8:27 a.m. yesterday, patrol officers responded to a property damage call in the 200 block of Damascus Road in Bedford. An excavator had its windows smashed out sometime overnight with damage being estimated at approximately $5000.

At 2 p.m. yesterday, officers were called back to the same area for a report of damage to another excavator. In this case, it appears that several shots were fired at the machine before rocks were thrown through the windows.

Investigators believe these two incidents are connected and that youth are likely responsible. They are also looking into a possible connection with the damage to the Rocky Lake Dome that was also reported yesterday.

Anyone with information about any of these incidents is asked to contact police at 490-5016 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca.
