Police looking for suspect after woman flees home with children


UPDATED A domestic dispute on Sunday has Police looking for a 36 year old suspect.

Charges Laid After Disturbance

As a result of the investigation into the incident on Clover Lane in Harrietsfield, a man and woman both face charges.

Thirty-one-year-old Jennifer Gilkie of Harrietsfield was arrested yesterday and is scheduled to appear in court on June 8 charged with drug cultivation. Thirty-three-year-old Timothy Bernard Gilkie of Sambro, turned himself into police this morning and is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court this afternoon to face charges of assault, threats and drug cultivation.

 

April 12 2010:
Halifax Regional Police responded to an address on Clover Lane in Harrietsfield shortly after 7am today in relation to a domestic dispute. A 31 year old woman reported that her husband had assaulted and threatened her inside the residence. She fled with her two children to a neighbours house and called police.

The subsequent investigation led officers to believe the male was still inside the home and that he had access to firearms. A warrant to enter the residence and arrest the male was obtained.

The Emergency Response Team and Crisis Negotiators were called to the scene. At approximately 3pm, the Emergency Response Team entered the residence to search for the suspect. He was not located inside the home, however a quantity of marijuana plants and drug paraphernalia was located. Officer are currently preparing a search warrant for the drugs.

Police are still seeking the 36 year old male in relation to the assault and threats complaint. The woman was not injured in this incident.
